Summary
OpenSignal ranked Xfinity first in April and May 2026 for fastest combined download speeds at 247.1 Mbps and for “consistent quality” among U.S. internet providers.
The study measured download and upload speeds, latency, jitter, packet loss and time to first byte, while Xfinity said its fiber-powered network delivers 99.9% uptime and latency under 20 ms.
The report argues reliability now matters as much as raw speed, especially for remote work and multi-device homes where HD video calls need 3-5 Mbps upload and 4K streaming needs at least 25 Mbps per stream.
Fiber and fiber-powered cable were presented as the most reliable connection types, with cable available to 82% of U.S. households while fiber remains available to less than half the country.
