Summary
Car and Driver’s re-test clocked the 2026 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X at 1.8 seconds to 60 mph and 8.9 seconds in the quarter-mile at 155 mph, making it the quickest production car the outlet has ever tested.
Those times were 0.3 second faster than the first test, after Chevy returned the same car with fresh Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires to a grippier Michigan surface and testers optimized launch control at a 3,500-rpm setting.
The 1,250-hp hybrid Corvette became the first car in the publication’s testing to reach 60 mph in 1.8 seconds and the first production car it measured to run the quarter-mile in the eights, beating the 9.1-second marks of the Lucid Air Sapphire and Bugatti Chiron Super Sport.
Beyond straight-line records, the ZR1X posted 1.14 g on the skidpad and improved braking to 135 feet from 70 mph, reinforcing the C8 Corvette’s standing as a benchmark for high-performance internal-combustion-based cars.
