NYPD Officer Shoots Stolen-Kia Driver After Vehicle Hits Multiple Cops in Bronx

A Bronx stop of a stolen silver Kia Sportage ended with an NYPD officer shooting the driver after police said he rammed multiple officers and an unmarked police vehicle while trying to flee.
License-plate readers had tracked the Kia after it was reported stolen, and officers on West Fordham Road said the driver first reversed into officers, then drove forward and struck a sergeant.
An officer standing on a nearby vehicle opened fire as the driver kept trying to leave; the driver was taken to Saint Barnabas Hospital in stable condition.
Several injured officers were also hospitalized in stable condition, charges against the driver are pending, and investigators are reviewing body-camera footage.
Police said the suspect had been arrested in February in a separate shooting case and faced multiple felony charges including attempted assault and gun possession.
