Experts say Prime Day is the point in the retail cycle when 2025 sets are being cleared out, so they often hit their lowest prices yet. By contrast, 2026 TVs are only getting early discounts. Those newer models may be cheaper than at launch, but they are still relatively expensive and usually see much deeper cuts later in the year. That matters because year-to-year TV upgrades are often modest. The reporting and expert testing cited here say many 2025 models deliver picture quality very close to their 2026 replacements, and in some cases can even match or beat them in areas like color performance. That makes heavily discounted 2025 OLED and QLED sets a better value proposition than paying a premium for a newer badge. There is also less risk in buying the older generation. The best 2025 models have already been widely tested and reviewed, so shoppers know what they are getting. With some 2026 models, reviews are still limited and pricing is less settled. The practical advice is simple: if a 2025 model such as the Samsung S90F, LG C5, TCL QM8K, or Hisense U8QG drops near or below its previous record low, that is usually the better buy than a lightly discounted 2026 equivalent. The exception is if a specific 2026 feature truly matters to you, such as very large sizes or a new premium panel.
