Summary
Fake emails and polished websites are luring gamers with bogus GTA VI “beta” invites, despite no legitimate early-access program having been announced.
NordVPN said the scams exploit years of anticipation around the game, using AI-assisted mimicry and “beta keys” to make offers look official.
Victims can be asked for names, addresses, dates of birth, login credentials or software downloads; researchers found one fake download carried malware that let fraudsters access a user’s computer.
The fallout can include stolen GTA Online accounts, sold personal data and compromised bank details, with some scams even targeting PC and Android users although no versions for those platforms have been announced.
Rockstar has scheduled GTA VI for Nov. 19 after two delays, and security experts say players should trust only Rockstar or official console stores and change passwords immediately if they used a suspicious site.
