Rockstar Adds Grand Theft Auto 5 Story Mode to GTA+ Ahead of Nov. 19 GTA 6 Launch

Q: Will Grand Theft Auto 6 be included with the GTA+ subscription, or will fans have to buy the game separately?

Grand Theft Auto 6 is expected to be a separate purchase, and Rockstar has not said it will be included with GTA+ at launch. What Rockstar has confirmed is much narrower: GTA 5’s Story Mode is now part of the GTA+ Games Library, giving subscribers access to that older title without buying it separately. But for GTA 6, the company has only confirmed the release date of November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. It has not announced day-one availability on GTA+. The broader business context also points toward a standalone sale. Take-Two has framed GTA 6 as a major revenue driver for fiscal 2027, and reporting around its earnings has treated “GTA 6 sales” as a direct purchase rather than a subscription inclusion. Given the scale of the launch and the franchise’s sales history, analysts broadly expect Rockstar and Take-Two to sell the base game separately. That does not rule out GTA+ support around GTA 6 later. Subscribers could still receive in-game perks, online benefits, or eventual library access well after release, much as GTA 5 Story Mode was added years after launch. There is also still no confirmed word on whether GTA 6 will ship with a new version of GTA Online. For now, fans should assume they will need to buy GTA 6 separately unless Rockstar announces otherwise.

Grand Theft Auto 5 Story Mode is now included in the GTA+ Games Library, letting subscribers play the full single-player game without buying it separately.
The update also bundles access to GTA Online, and Rockstar said eligible players can migrate Story Mode and Online progress to the latest versions.
GTA+ now appears to be the only subscription service carrying GTA 5's full package after the game left PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass.
The move gives players a way to revisit GTA 5 before Grand Theft Auto 6 arrives on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on Nov. 19, 2026; Rockstar has not said whether GTA 6 will join GTA+ at launch.
