Google Wallet on Pixel Watch now supports Express Pay, letting users pay with their default card by tapping the watch without first opening the app.
The change narrows a long-standing gap with Android phones, which already allow tap-to-pay after the device has been unlocked with a PIN, pattern, fingerprint or face authentication.
Pixel Watch can use Express Pay for both tap-to-pay purchases and transit once the watch has been unlocked on the wrist, while other Wear OS devices currently offer a transit-only option.
Users enable the feature in the Pixel Watch app under Google Wallet by selecting a card, turning on Express Pay and choosing the tap-to-pay-and-transit setting.
