Microsoft Flags KB5094126 Recycle Bin Glitch Across 12 Windows Versions
3 articles · Updated · Windows Central · Jun 19
Summary
KB5094126 can make the Recycle Bin delete-confirmation dialog show a file’s internal name instead of its normal readable filename, a bug Microsoft has now acknowledged.
Microsoft said the problem is limited to that prompt: the file list in Recycle Bin still shows the correct name, deletion still works, and restored files keep their original names.
12 supported Windows client and server releases are affected, spanning Windows 11, Windows 10 and Windows Server editions from 2012 through 2025.
Microsoft is working on a permanent fix for a future Windows update, though it has not said whether that will arrive in the next Patch Tuesday release or an out-of-band patch.
Commercial customers can get a workaround through Microsoft Support for Business, adding to scrutiny of June 2026 Patch Tuesday after earlier Windows 11 issues including BitLocker lockouts.
