Summary
More than a year after his Jan. 30, 2025 arrest in Monterrey, Arnoldo Jimenez was returned from Mexico to the United States to face an Illinois murder case, the FBI said Thursday.
Jimenez is accused of killing his 26-year-old wife, Estrella Carrera, on their wedding night in May 2012; her body was found in a bathtub at their Burbank, Illinois, apartment less than 48 hours after the couple married.
Illinois authorities charged him with first-degree murder on May 15, 2012, and a federal unlawful-flight warrant followed two days later after he fled.
The FBI had listed Jimenez among its Most Wanted fugitives, ranking him No. 4 at the time of his capture, but authorities still have not disclosed a motive or a date for his first court appearance.
