Los Angeles prosecutors charged 40-year-old Ruben Fregosojuarez with murder and misdemeanor child abuse after his girlfriend was found dead and their daughter Daleyza disappeared.
Monday's welfare check at a West Adams home found the woman dead "as a result of violence," prompting an Amber Alert after police said the girl had last been seen with Fregosojuarez about 4 a.m. Sunday.
Surveillance photos appeared to show Fregosojuarez with the child in a San Ysidro parking garage near the U.S.-Mexico border, and authorities said he fled to Mexico.
The 2019 Land Rover Discovery linked to the abduction has been recovered, but Fregosojuarez and Daleyza remained missing as the multi-agency search continued.
