Newly declassified ODNI documents show intelligence officials weighed but rejected Anthony Fauci as an outside reviewer of the COVID-19 origins assessment because he could be seen as conflicted.
Emails in the release show officials also debated whether to follow Fauci’s recommendations on whom to interview, with one side calling him a policymaker and another defending him as a subject-matter expert.
Gabbard paired the Fauci material with claims that the US funded more than 120 foreign biolabs in over 30 countries that conducted risky gain-of-function research with limited oversight.
The release came in one of Gabbard’s final acts before leaving ODNI, as Bill Pulte prepares to take over on an interim basis while Jay Clayton’s permanent nomination remains stalled in the Senate.
