Trump Names William Pulte Acting DNI, Keeping Him Over $10 Trillion in Housing Finance

William J. Pulte was tapped Tuesday to serve as acting director of national intelligence after Tulsi Gabbard resigned two weeks ago, with Trump announcing the move on Truth Social.
Trump cast Pulte's qualification as his oversight of more than $10 trillion tied to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and his handling of what he called sensitive market matters.
The appointment puts a housing finance official with no cited intelligence, military or national security background atop ODNI on an acting basis, while any permanent replacement would still require Senate confirmation.
