June 28 will bring Tony D’Angelo’s NXT title defense against Naraku at The Great American Bash, a matchup the champion called his toughest test since winning the belt.
Naraku earned the shot by beating Mason Rook after arriving in NXT in May, then unsettled D’Angelo by presenting a title-match contract that the challenger still has not signed.
D’Angelo said he reads Naraku’s behavior as either hesitation or calculated mind games, and expects possible interference given Naraku’s past with New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s House of Torture.
The card also includes Lola Vice defending the NXT Women’s Championship and Myles Borne putting the North American title on the line.
8 p.m. ET on the CW Network marks the first NXT premium live event exclusive to the channel, which D’Angelo said should put the brand before a larger audience.
