Summary
Tony D'Angelo beat Kam Hendrix by pinfall in NXT's June 2 main event, surviving an early surge before finishing the rookie with an announce-table back body drop and a spinebuster.
Hendrix repeatedly threatened the champion with Showtime Kicks and a sit-out powerbomb, but a referee caught his rope-assisted pin attempt and outside interference from Naraku and Mason Rook blocked further cheating.
Naraku then handed D'Angelo the belt as Rook watched from ringside, and NXT set Naraku vs. Rook for next week to decide the champion's next challenger.
Elsewhere, Lexis King retained the Men's Speed Championship against Romeo Moreno, while Zaria beat Lizzy Rain and immediately secured a Women's North American title shot against Tatum Paxley next week.
The June 2 show pushed NXT's Great American Bash build forward with another No. 1 contender bout also set for next week: Kelani Jordan vs. Kendal Grey for a shot at Lola Vice.
