Possibly, but Gearbox still has to prove it on substance and price. The expansion in question appears to be Borderlands 4’s “Bounty Pack 3: A Zane to Kill For,” which Gearbox is framing as a cyber-noir themed release rather than a product literally titled “Cyber Noir.” That matters because the studio is coming off criticism of “Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned,” a $30 story DLC that many players said was too short, with reports of a two-to-three-hour main path and a “Mixed” Steam reception. What could help this time is context. Gearbox is not selling “A Zane to Kill For” in isolation from the broader June 25 update. It launches alongside the free “Takedown at Hadron Abyss” endgame raid and Version 1.8 support, continuing a post-launch pattern that has also included free raid content, level-cap increases, Pearlescent drops and progression features. That broader package may soften value concerns for active players, even if it does not answer whether the paid DLC alone is worth the money. The June 18 DevCast is therefore important. Gearbox says it will show the “Cyber Noir World” in detail, including environmental storytelling, lighting and Zane’s playable arcade, while also updating the roadmap. If the studio can demonstrate meaningful mission density, replayability, loot and a clearer scope than the last story DLC, it has a credible chance to change the conversation. Until those details are shown, the value question remains open.
