Nancy Pelosi said Donald Trump’s “mental state” should be reviewed in a Wednesday interview before abruptly shifting to praise for Barack Obama’s presidential center in Chicago.
The former House speaker tied that criticism to Trump-era White House plans and events, citing a UFC fight on the lawn, a proposed ballroom and what she called destruction of the East Wing.
Pelosi said presidents should succeed but argued such entertainment and construction moves do not belong at the White House, especially when she sees Trump falling short elsewhere.
She then cut off the Trump discussion herself, calling the Obama Presidential Center a more hopeful subject ahead of its Friday opening.
