The brand is also moving away from an all-electric-only strategy, giving the sedan a better chance of using the kind of hybrid or combustion powertrain many Maserati buyers still want. But the benchmark is unusually high. The Quattroporte built its reputation over six generations as an Italian performance sedan with distinctive styling, strong V8 character, luxury craftsmanship and, at times, class-leading speed. That mix of emotion, exclusivity and practicality is what made it more than just another executive car. The challenge is that Maserati is trying to revive that formula while the brand is under pressure. Deliveries fell sharply in 2025 and early 2026, the company posted an operating loss, and it is still searching for technology partners. Any successor will need to do more than look dramatic: it must deliver real quality, a clear identity, and performance that feels authentically Maserati. So the new flagship could honor the Quattroporte name if it restores that blend of elegance, speed and character. For now, though, it remains a promise rather than a proven heir.
