But cheaper crude does not translate into instant relief for drivers. Refiners buy oil in advance, existing higher-cost fuel is still moving through the system, and shipping through Hormuz cannot normalize overnight. Experts say mine clearance, tanker backlogs, insurance costs, and the cautious return of shipowners could delay full recovery for weeks or months. Some analysts put a more normal flow at roughly 30 to 45 days in a best case, while others say three to six months for fuller normalization. That means Americans may see some decline at the pump relatively soon if the agreement holds, but a large and sustained drop depends on whether the ceasefire proves durable and whether Gulf producers can restore output smoothly. Any renewed disruption would quickly put a risk premium back into oil prices. So the deal is likely to help lower gas prices, but it is better seen as the start of a gradual easing rather than a fast fix for drivers already squeezed by high fuel costs.
