Thousands of protesters have filled central Tirana against a multibillion-dollar Albanian coastal resort project tied to Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner.
The planned development would turn part of Albania’s largely unspoiled coast into luxury hotels and villas, fueling anger over environmental damage and risks to the local flamingo population.
The backlash has been dubbed the “Flamingo Revolution,” widening the dispute from a land-use fight into a political challenge aimed at both the Albanian government and the Trump family’s business interests.
The project has become the latest flashpoint over the Trump family’s overseas commercial ambitions, with Albania’s coastline now at the center of that scrutiny.
