$55 million gave “Scary Movie 6” the biggest opening in the franchise, putting Anna Faris back atop the box office in her return as Cindy Campbell.
Marlon Wayans helped drive that comeback after regaining control of the series and bringing Faris and Regina Hall back to roles absent from later installments.
Faris said the revival follows years of career and personal strain after leaving CBS’s “Mom” in 2020 during COVID and enduring a public divorce.
65,000 Canadian dollars was Faris’ pay for the first film, she said, adding she and Hall never received male-comparable salaries and that she felt undervalued by Hollywood.
The hit has reset her outlook and workload: Faris says she now has three more films due this year, calling the “Scary Movie” success a “victory lap.”
