Czech Republic Vows to Block EU Sanctions on Ben-Gvir Before October Vote

Petr Macinka said Prague would block any EU move to sanction Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir if the proposal is raised before Israel’s late-October election.
The Czech foreign minister said he told EU partners to “not even try,” arguing sanctions over Ben-Gvir’s treatment of activists trying to deliver aid to Gaza would boost the far-right minister politically at home.
The stance sets up a direct obstacle inside the EU, where member states can stop such a sanctions push, and ties Prague’s position explicitly to Israel’s election timetable.
