Braden Montgomery Lifts White Sox 6-5 in MLB Debut With 2-Run Walk-Off Homer

Braden Montgomery, called up Tuesday, capped his major-league debut with a two-run homer in the 10th inning to beat Atlanta 6-5 before 20,494 at Rate Field.
The 23-year-old also delivered his first MLB hit and RBI in the fourth as Chicago erased an early 4-0 deficit fueled by Matt Olson’s two home runs.
Only five players since 1900 have hit a walk-off homer in their MLB debut, according to MLB researcher Sarah Langs.
The win pushed the White Sox to 35-31, just a half-game behind Cleveland in the AL Central after three straight 100-loss seasons.
Montgomery is the club’s No. 2 prospect and the 12th White Sox player to debut this season, underscoring a youth-heavy roster amid ongoing rotation shuffling.
