At the Capitol on Tuesday, Bernie Sanders gave no response when asked whether he believed women accusing Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner of abuse.
The unanswered questions also covered allegations that Platner knew about a Nazi-linked tattoo, adding to a controversy already fueled by sexually explicit messages and offensive social media posts.
Platner has denied wrongdoing, but the Marine veteran and oyster farmer remains under intensifying scrutiny as Maine Democrats vote to choose a challenger to Republican Sen. Susan Collins.
Sanders has previously campaigned for Platner and still backs him, alongside other prominent Democrats including Chuck Schumer and Elizabeth Warren.
