Summary
Eight best-of-three super regionals start Friday, with 16 teams competing through as many as four days for eight berths in Omaha.
Seven of the original top 16 national seeds are already out, including No. 1 UCLA and No. 2 Georgia Tech, turning the round into a survival test rather than a chalk bracket.
The SEC still leads the field with seven teams and is guaranteed at least two Omaha spots because Georgia faces Mississippi State and Auburn meets Ole Miss.
Other storylines include the Big Ten down to USC and Oregon, the ACC reduced to only North Carolina, and underdogs such as West Virginia, Cal Poly, St. John's, Troy and Little Rock pushing for rare trips.
The weekend also doubles as a draft showcase, with prospects including Georgia catcher Daniel Jackson, Alabama shortstop Justin Lebron, USC lefty Mason Edwards and Texas center fielder Aiden Robbins.
