Vanilla Ice Defends Trump’s 16-Day Fair Concerts as Artist Boycotts Grow

Vanilla Ice said he does not understand the backlash over his role in President Donald Trump’s upcoming “Great American State Fair” concerts, calling the 250th-anniversary event patriotic rather than political.
On Fox News, the rapper said entertainers should not be treated as political endorsements and compared playing the event to DJing any wedding, insisting it is about “coming together” as Americans.
The defense came after multiple artists dropped out of the 16-day National Mall series, saying it had been presented to them as a nonpartisan event despite Trump’s close involvement.
Trump created organizer Freedom 250 by executive order and has mocked the departing performers, saying he could replace the “Third Rate ‘Artists’” with a speech of his own.
