Bear Mauls 46-Year-Old Tourist Near Vidraru Dam After He Fed Cub

Georgi Bizhev, 46, suffered serious bite wounds to his left arm after a bear lunged through his open car window near Romania’s Vidraru Dam and tried to drag him out.
Bizhev had stopped on a mountain road, tossed food scraps toward a mother bear and cub, and began filming them before the animal attacked.
Video from an onlooker shows the bear thrusting into the vehicle, while Bizhev’s own footage captured it clawing at him as he screamed for help.
His seatbelt helped keep him inside the car as other drivers honked and shouted to scare the bear away; emergency crews responded after he alerted dam guards.
Officials said the mother bear was likely protecting her cub, and Bizhev acknowledged he had entered the animal’s environment and made a costly mistake.
