House Lawmakers Ready 300-Page Bipartisan AI Bill Draft for Thursday Unveiling

Thursday is the target for releasing a long-awaited House discussion draft that would create a federal framework for regulating artificial intelligence.
A 300-page package of recommendations is being finalized by Reps. Jay Obernolte and Lori Trahan, who say only minor details remain after circulating text to lawmakers, leaders and industry representatives.
Mike Johnson said GOP leaders are helping shape the framework and discussed it Wednesday with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, who was also set to meet House Democrats and Hakeem Jeffries.
Jeffries, who said in May he was not engaged, now says he has "full visibility" into the bipartisan talks even as House Democrats continue building their own AI policy blueprint ahead of the midterms.
