Summary
A Glasgow High Court jury found Jay Stewart, 18, and an unnamed 15-year-old guilty of murdering 16-year-old Kayden Moy on Irvine Beach on May 17, 2025; a third teen, Cole Turley, had already admitted the killing.
Prosecutors said the three, linked to the Murray Boys gang, went to the beach after an earlier clash with Moy's rival Himshie group, threw rocks to provoke a confrontation and chased him as he tried to flee.
Kayden Moy was unarmed, but slipped after spotting weapons and was repeatedly stabbed; Turley used a lockback knife, while Stewart was armed with an extendable baton, and Moy died in hospital that night.
CCTV shown at trial captured the trio hugging and shaking hands minutes after the attack before taking a taxi back to East Kilbride, where a witness said the 15-year-old admitted handing Turley the murder weapon.
The jury was unanimous on Stewart but divided on the 15-year-old, and Moy's family became emotional in court as the verdicts were delivered.
