August’s JAB Classic will be one of only two $1 million basketball tournaments, with Jared Armstrong assembling former NBA players and top international pros around an anti-hate message.
Armstrong said the event has been in development for nearly two years and is meant to use sport to show unity, while giving inner-city kids access to players they might not otherwise see.
Oct. 7 sharpened that mission after Armstrong saw children in Israel lacking school and outlets, pushing him to expand clinics and community work.
Beyond the tournament, Armstrong is building courts in Israel and in Jewish communities in Philadelphia, tying his pro career and Jewish heritage to a broader effort to support young people.
