Summary
Marathon’s servers were back online by about 12:00 a.m. ET on June 3 after Bungie extended maintenance and deployed a patch during the game’s Season 2 launch.
Weasel, Anteater and later Monkey errors surged within hours of the June 2 update, forcing Bungie to take servers offline again around 7:00 p.m. ET and miss its planned 9:00 p.m. return.
Bungie said error codes appeared less frequently after the fix and told affected players to restart the game if problems persist.
The studio is compensating players with sponsored kit packages after disrupted runs and contracts on a day meant to showcase overhauled progression, a new character type and a new map and mode.
The outage hit during Marathon’s first free week and alongside Sony’s State of Play promotion, undercutting a key chance to win back players as Bungie faces broader pressure around the game.
