June 9's final Destiny 2 update has sharpened a rift inside Bungie's fan base, with major creators Aztecross and Myelin Games openly splitting over whether to back Marathon or fight for more Destiny.
Aztecross, who has more than 1 million YouTube subscribers, said he would not support Marathon and would help "bury" it if that meant getting more Destiny 2 or Destiny 3.
Myelin, who has recently embraced Marathon after years in Destiny lore coverage, pushed back after fresh anti-Marathon backlash and made his Destiny lore videos private, escalating the feud.
The dispute has been fed by claims that about $200 million in Destiny 2 revenue was diverted to Marathon and by reports that most Bungie developers had shifted to the newer game.
That has turned frustration over Destiny 2's end into a broader backlash against Bungie management and Sony after the studio's $3.6 billion acquisition.
