Florida’s House and Senate approved joint resolutions Tuesday to put a constitutional amendment on the Nov. 3 general-election ballot for residential property tax cuts.
The measure advances Gov. Ron DeSantis’s push to slash property taxes, but lawmakers stripped local school districts out of the original proposal before passage.
Voters would decide whether to amend the state constitution, making the referendum the next hurdle for the tax-cut plan.
The move keeps property taxes at the center of Florida’s 2026 political agenda while narrowing the scope of DeSantis’s broader initial pitch.
