Nov. 1, 2026 will be Wild Waves' final operating day, ending the Federal Way theme and water park's run after nearly five decades.
Premier Parks said millions of dollars in losses since reopening after the COVID shutdown and rising operating costs forced the permanent closure announced in November.
1977 marked the park's opening; it has since drawn millions across the Pacific Northwest with rides including the Timberhawk: Ride of Prey wooden coaster.
Months before the final season ends, Washington residents are flooding the park's Facebook posts with pleas for a buyer and tributes to a longtime family destination.
The shutdown adds to a broader wave of nostalgia-driven backlash as U.S. parks close, demolish or replace older attractions.
