Nintendo’s Star Fox remake for Switch 2 expands Star Fox 64 with upgraded graphics, new voice acting, added cinematics, Challenge mode and reworked campaign presentation ahead of its June 25 release.
An early hands-on preview said the core flying still feels close to the N64 original, with updated mission briefings, branching-path context and refreshed visuals across stages including Corneria, Meteo and the warp zone.
Co-op now splits piloting and aiming between 2 players, while Battle Mode supports online or GameShare matches for up to 8 across objective-based maps instead of the original’s barebones deathmatch focus.
Nintendo is using the remake to reset a franchise that struggled after Star Fox 64, leaning on its origin story while introducing more dialogue and redesigned characters to reintroduce Fox and his team to newer players.
