Brown said Vrabel was “extremely tough” during his first three NFL seasons and constantly pushed him, even when Brown initially did not understand the approach.
Over time, Brown said he came to see that Vrabel was holding him accountable rather than trying to tear him down, and the two grew close.
When Brown’s trade to the Patriots became official, he said Vrabel’s message was familiar: “Get open and catch the ball.”
