Nov. 25 marks the start of a two-week global IMAX run for Netflix’s Cliff Booth movie, with the Brad Pitt-led film arriving on the service Dec. 23.
David Fincher directs the continuation of Pitt’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood character from a Quentin Tarantino script, though the project still lacks an official title.
The film takes the Thanksgiving IMAX slot previously set for Greta Gerwig’s Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew, which Netflix says will instead get a 49-day traditional theatrical window when it opens in February.
Netflix said the IMAX booking does not signal a broader strategy shift, even as the streamer has increasingly tested limited theatrical runs for Knives Out titles, awards contenders and other select releases.
