Most LIRR service remained suspended at Penn Station overnight after Thursday’s track fire, with trains diverted to and from Grand Central and disruptions likely into the Friday morning peak.
11:22 a.m. was when FDNY received the call for a feeder fire near 31st Street between Seventh and Eighth avenues; crews said the blaze extended to a wall and no injuries were reported.
Grand Central Madison will stay open through the night to absorb riders, though overnight access is limited to specific entrances including 1 Vanderbilt, 270 Park Avenue and connections from the 4, 5 and 6 lines.
