Quest 3’s latest Horizon OS public test update lets users convert nearly any 2D image in the built-in browser into a stereoscopic 3D photo with a few clicks or a hand-tracking pinch.
Meta also extended the feature to the Horizon mobile app, where phone photos can be uploaded from the camera roll and processed into 3D images for later viewing inside the headset.
Two system controls moved into Quick Settings: Power Options now shows battery and shutdown choices, while Boost Height shifts the user’s viewpoint by about 16 inches for seated or accessibility use.
The update highlights Meta’s push beyond gaming toward spatial media and everyday headset utilities, even as rivals already offer real-time 2D-to-3D conversion on headsets and smart glasses.
With its enterprise VR program ending, can the Quest platform truly evolve beyond gaming to become a daily-use spatial computer?
As AI becomes the next tech battleground, is Meta's assistant strong enough to challenge Apple and Google in the spatial computing race?
