Inna Vernikov said Mayor Zohran Mamdani's Office to Combat Antisemitism has no usable public presence—no website, phone number or clear resources—and told a recent hearing it "does nothing" to make Jewish New Yorkers feel safer.
Her criticism comes after a run of antisemitic incidents in New York City, including swastika graffiti in Queens and protests outside Park East Synagogue in Manhattan and in a Jewish Brooklyn neighborhood.
City records do show a government webpage for the office, but it mainly lists a press release, a listening tour and outreach events whose findings are still meant to inform a future anti-antisemitism strategy.
The dispute has widened into criticism of Mamdani's response to synagogue-area protests and his veto of a buffer-zone bill for schools, even as he says worshippers must be able to enter and exit safely.
