Carville Warns Anti-Israel Activists Could Cost Democrats Elections as Antisemitism Worsens After Oct. 7

James Carville said anti-Israel activists tied to Democrats are hurting the party politically and morally, warning their rhetoric could cost votes if Democrats are seen as tolerating hatred.
On Jim Acosta’s podcast, Carville called antisemitism a “real” and worsening problem, while arguing most antisemites and many campus protesters blamed on Democrats are not actually party members.
Those loudest voices are drowning out the broader Democratic coalition, he said, even though most Democratic voters and officeholders do not share antisemitic views.
The dispute reflects a deeper Democratic split over Israel since Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023 attack and Israel’s war in Gaza, which has fueled campus protests and internal fights over U.S. support for Israel.
Carville also drew a line between criticizing Israel’s government and hostility toward Israel or Jews, and said a broader Israeli-Palestinian reconciliation should still be possible.
