A two-pack ESR MagSafe Ring Sticker let a Pixel 7 owner add magnetic accessory support to existing cases instead of buying a new MagSafe-compatible phone or case.
The metal ring sticks onto a phone case over the charging coil area, enabling attachments such as PopSockets, car mounts, wallets, tripods and battery packs; non-Samsung Android users may need to locate coil placement manually.
The author said the setup has held up for more than 2 years across two cases, solving problems with worn-out adhesive grips and unreliable car mounts while making accessories easier to swap.
Drawbacks include a visible ring, mixed reports on adhesive strength and the fact that removed stickers cannot be reused, though residue was easy to clean in this test.
The workaround also foreshadowed Google’s 2025 PixelSnap launch for the Pixel 10, which brought MagSafe-like support to newer Pixel phones.
Why did Apple help create the Qi2 standard while reportedly planning to ditch MagSafe on some future iPhones?
Now that Android has Qi2, are all magnetic accessories finally universal, or do brand ecosystems still matter?
