Robb Field Recreation Center remains slated for closure in Mayor Todd Gloria’s revised budget, even after San Diego cut the proposed recreation-center shutdowns to nine from 16.
Point Loma/Hervey Library is still set to lose half its Saturday hours, joining five other branches, while longer renovation closures at Ocean Beach and Rancho Peñasquitos would add savings.
Gloria said $13.5 million in restorations came from higher hotel-tax forecasts and a new $4.3 million golf-course rent payment, allowing partial recovery of library and recreation hours.
The revised plan still aims to close a projected $146 million FY2026-27 deficit, preserving higher-priority spending such as public safety while leaving arts grants, layoffs and other service cuts largely intact.
City Council members must submit final budget memos by May 20, with adoption scheduled for June 9 ahead of the June 30 deadline.
