Steven Knight said the next James Bond film is "really, really good" and developing "incredibly well," offering one of the clearest public progress updates on Amazon's rebooted 007 era.
Knight is writing the film with director Denis Villeneuve and producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman, but said he cannot reveal specifics beyond saying the project has "the best people."
Casting remains unresolved: Knight has said he is not writing with a lead actor in mind, and Amazon MGM film chief Courtenay Valenti said last month the studio is taking its time with care and respect.
Knight said he is drawing heavily from Ian Fleming's novels, praising their style and dreamlike but tangible world as a key influence on the new installment.
No release date has been announced, and reports suggest audiences may not see the next Bond film until 2028.
