A university-wide alert went out at 10 p.m. Saturday after UCSB police logged a reported rape and strangulation in campus housing.
The Daily Nexus reported the suspect and victim had just met at a party in nearby Isla Vista and did not know each other before the alleged assault.
UCSB police have released no suspect information or further details, leaving students, faculty and staff on edge.
More than 100 rapes were reported at UCSB from 2022 through 2024, part of a broader rise in sexual assaults, weapons arrests and burglaries on campus.
