May 20 is the next Social Security payment date for beneficiaries whose birth date falls from the 11th through the 20th of any month, or the worker’s birthday if benefits are claimed on someone else’s record.
The payment is the second round in May’s three-Wednesdays schedule, which started unusually late this month: May 13 for birthdays 1st-10th, May 20 for 11th-20th, and May 27 for 21st-31st.
Average monthly benefits cited by the agency are $2,081.16 for retired workers, $1,634.70 for disabled workers and $1,625.56 for survivor beneficiaries.
Some recipients were already paid on May 1 instead of May 3, including people on Social Security before May 1997 and dual Social Security-SSI beneficiaries, because May 3 fell on a non-business day.
