James Franco personally met international buyers at Cannes' Marché du Film as his new action thriller "Foster" sought distribution, and he addressed the market screening on Wednesday.
"Foster" stars Franco as a sober ex-criminal protecting a young boy while being hunted by a former crime boss; director Timothy Woodward Jr. said the script was rebuilt "from the ground up."
The Cannes push comes as Franco continues working after a sexual misconduct scandal tied to his acting school ended with a $2.2 million settlement, with Franco denying the allegations but saying the plaintiffs raised important issues.
Franco said he has wrapped an unnamed studio film due next year and is also bringing other projects to Cannes, extending a recent run that includes the March release of the Italian film "Hey Joe."
