Cover to Mute lets Apple Watch users silence calls, messages, timers and other alerts by covering the display with a palm for up to three seconds.
The feature is enabled by default, and the watch confirms the action with a tap; users can switch it on or off in Settings under Gestures.
Apple also offers Wrist Flick on Apple Watch SE 3, Ultra 2, and Series 9 or later, letting users stop notifications with a quick wrist motion.
The gesture joins a broader set of Apple Watch convenience and safety tools, though Apple warns accidental damage is not covered by its standard limited warranty.

Apple's next watch promises advanced AI. Will this fix frustrating gesture controls or just be another gimmick?
