Instagram’s newly launched Instants feature is triggering complaints after users discovered a single tap on the shutter can immediately send a disappearing photo to everyone on their Friends list.
The confusion stems from the setup flow: Instagram explains that Instants vanish and reactions stay private, but does not clearly warn that “Friends” is the default audience before capture.
Meta offers two ways to limit the damage — users can hide Instants in Inbox through Content Preferences, or long-press the inbox stack to temporarily stop receiving them.
An “Undo” button appears right after sending, and users can also delete an Instant from the archive to unsend it before recipients open it.
