AJ Francis said he wants Leon Slater to beat Cedric Alexander on Thursday so he can be the one to take the TNA X Division Championship from him.
Slater enters the defense with a chance to become the longest-reigning X Division champion at 299 days, moving past Austin Aries' 298-day mark from 2011.
Francis argued he is TNA's "biggest heel" and said no one would draw a stronger reaction by ending Slater's run, while claiming he was cheated in his previous title match.
He also used the interview to blast critics and insist he has always been "in business for myself" after being written off 2 1/2 years ago.
Francis next faces KC Navarro in a SacTown Street Fight on Impact in Sacramento, with the show airing live on AMC at 9 p.m. ET.
