A Quantus Insights poll of 908 likely Republican voters put Ed Gallrein ahead of Rep. Thomas Massie 48.3% to 43.1% just days before Kentucky's May 19 primary.
Trump endorsed Gallrein in a push to unseat Massie, a Kentucky congressman who has repeatedly broken with the president, and the survey suggested that move may be shifting the race.
Among 7.6% of voters still undecided, 71 of 86 respondents said they leaned toward Gallrein, giving him a potential cushion if late deciders break his way.
Massie told WHAS11 the contest is within the poll's 3.3-point margin of error and said turnout will likely decide the winner.
Quantus Insights, which Nate Silver rated B/C in January, called the topline a warning sign for Massie as a meaningful share of GOP voters appears ready to move on.
